CGI has enabled moviemakers to do things that are otherwise unachievable in the real world. It’s come in handy for making things more cost-effective and adding subtle details that help enhance things like practical effects and making Legolas’ eyes blue when Orlando Bloom couldn’t wear contact lenses. It has also been extremely useful for fixing mistakes. And here’s where it sometimes starts to get a bit silly as some movie makers decide to use it for the most pointless reasons.
