With a movie reboot in the works and legions of rerun fans spanning the globe, Baywatch is an entertainment classic that just won’t quit. Let’s face it, people didn’t tune in for the riveting plot lines, daring rescues or quality acting. This was cheesy, predictable, mind-numbing, jiggle TV, with slow-mo running scenes thrown in at every opportunity. Dis The Hoff all you want, but the man tapped into a winning formula and gave the mass audience just what they wanted – babes on a beach. Shortsightedly, NBC canceled it after its first season in 1989, but Hasselhoff revived the lifeguard action drama through international syndication and continued to produce episodes until 1999 (and beyond through various offshoots). It’s been over 25 years since the series debuted. Want to see how your favorite faces have fared over the decades? Check out these mind-blowing “then and now” pics of the sexiest male and female Baywatch stars, and let us know who you think is looking the best today.
1. David Hasselhoff
The Baywatch crew was lead by L.A. County Lifeguard Mitch Buchannon, played to perfection by the hairy-chested hunk David Hasselhoff. Say what you will about his acting talent, he also served as executive producer of the show, which was was watched in 140 countries by over a billion viewers each week. Cha-ching! The man made millions through royalties, and also enjoyed rather inexplicable success as a German pop star. He even performed at the newly dismantled Berlin Wall on New Year’s Eve 1989! He now mostly parodies himself in cameo roles, serves on talent judging panels and tries his hand at various reality programs. We think the 62 year old Hoff’s had a bit too much plastic surgery around the eyes, but it’s hard for a former beefcake to be in an industry that demands even men to look fresh and youthful.
2. Gena Lee Nolin
Curvy blonde model Gena Lee Nolin got her big break as one of Barker’s Beauty’s on The Price is Right. In 1995 she joined the cast of Baywatch as lifeguard Neely Capshaw. She left in 1999 to star in her own show, Sheena, which ran for two seasons, and was a regular fixture in men’s magazines like Playboy, Maxim and FHM. Today, at 44, she’s become an advocate on thyroid disease, which she suffers from. It caused her weight to balloon, her hair to fall out, and severe depression and fatigue. She learned to manage her condition and wrote a book about it called Beautiful Inside and Out, Conquering Thyroid Disease with a Healthy, Happy, “Thyroid Sexy” Life. The mom of three still looks hot after all this, don’t you think?
3. Carmen Electra
Curvaceous Carmen Electra appeared as Lani McKenzie on Baywatch from 1997-1998, and hasn’t seemed to age a day since. Born Tara Leigh Patrick, she’s eked out a persistent career as a model, B-list actress, television personality, Prince-protege, Playboy poser, singer, dancer, reality and talk show guest, celebrity spouse, and anything else she can do to stay in the public eye. You got the hand it to her, the girl works it. Next up, the 43 will be hosting the upcoming British dating show Ex Isle. With a relationship history that includes Simon Cowell, Tommy Lee, Fred Durst, Dennis Rodman and Dave Navarro, she knows a thing or two about exes.
4. Kelly Packard
Kelly played Baywatch lifeguard April Giminski from 1991-1999. Her life post-beach has been quite different. She became a devout Mormon and mother of four. She appeared with her family on an episode of Celebrity Wife Swap in 2014 and the occasional Lifetime film. Wholesome life seems to agree with her.
5. Pamela Anderson
We can’t forget the most iconic Baywatch babe of all time. The Canadian-American Playmate/actress/producer/writer and animal rights activist jumped from Jumbotron girl to Home Improvement‘s Tool Time girl before landing her seminal role as lifeguard C.J. Parker on Baywatch for the first five years of the series. She has continued to find parts in various film and television (and sex tape) projects, and stayed in the spotlight through her various tumultuous marriages and relationships. Today, the 48 year old bombshell is free of the Hepatitis C that has plagued her for 20 years, and she is set to become the final covergirl for the January/February 2016 final nude issue of Playboy. We think she looks amazing – especially for a mother of a 20-year-old!
6. Brooke Burns
Texas-born Brooke Burns donned the red swimsuit as Jessie Owens on Baywatch and Baywatch Hawaii from 1998 to 2001. She’s continued to have steady acting and hosting work on the small and big screen, including appearances in Shallow Hal, North Shore and The Chase. She was married to Nip/Tuck star Julian McMahon, was engaged to Bruce Willis for a while, and is now married to director Gavin O’Connor. She still looks fine at 37, despite suffering a broken neck a few years ago. It’s hard to believe she has a titatnium plate, rod, and ten screws holding her together!
7. Donna D’Errico
From 1996 to 1998, Donna D’Errico was yet another bouncing blonde sporting the red swimsuit, Donna Marco. Like her prototype, Pamela Anderson, Donna bared her assets in Playboy and married a Mötley Crüe rock star (in Pam’s case, Tommy Lee, in Donna’s case, Nikki Sixx). The marriage ended in a messy divorce, and she declared bankruptcy in 2014. Still sizzling at 47, she keeps things together with bit parts in film and television, and even self-produced a documentary about her personal expedition to Mount Ararat in search of Noah’s Ark. Who knew?
8. Yasmine Bleeth
Yasmine played Stephanie’s little sister, Caroline Holden, on the series, and was named one of People Magazine’s 50 Most Beautiful People in 1995. The buxom brunette left the show after four years mainly due to her struggles with a cocaine addiction. She had a high-profile DUI bust in 2001, and met her strip-club owner husband in rehab. She doesn’t act much anymore, but in 2010 she posed for a Got Milk? ad rocking a white bathing suit. She’s 47 now, and while she may have put on a few pounds and traded the swimwear for comfy sweats, she’s still a beauty.
9. Nicole Eggert
Nicole Eggert played he bubbly blonde Summer Quinn on seasons 3 and 4 of Baywatch. Like Erika Eleniak, she also worked on the sitcom Charles in Charge and later appeared on Celebrity Fit Club to drop some of the pounds she packed on over the years. Nicole has had a rough time recently, declaring bankruptcy in 2013 and selling her house to pay off debts. She appeared on E!’s Botched last year to reduce her breast size back down to a B-cup after multiple shoddy augmentations. Today, the former sex symbol runs an ice cream truck.
10. Erika Eleniak
Erika parlayed her 1989 Playboy pictorial into a TV career that included roles on Charles in Charge and Baywatch, playing fresh-faced Shauni McClain from 1989 to 1992. Prior to that, she appeared briefly in the movie E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial as the girl who kissed Elliott. She’s continued to act throughout the years, most notably in Under Siege and The Beverly Hillbillies, but has been plagued by weight fluctuations and health issues. During a stint on 2006’s Celebrity Fit Club she lost 31 pounds. Now 46, she lives in a relatively quiet life in Calgary, Alberta with her boyfriend and daughter, far away from the Hollywood limelight.
11. Alexandra Paul
Playing the smart and sporty Lieutenant Stephanie Holden, Alexandra Paul was one of the longest running original cast members on the show. The former model, actress and activist, now 52, has held up well over the years without any extreme cosmetic intervention. Her secret? She’s been happily married (no kids) since 2000, has been a vegan for over 30 years and continues to keep fit through long-distance swimming races.
12. David Chokachi
David Chokachi came by his golden California good looks by way of an Iraqi father and Finnish mother. He and his chiseled abs played Cody Madison from 1995 to 1999. He was a deserved member of People Magazine’s “50 Most Beautiful People in the World” in 1997. He has continued to find roles in film and television throughout the years, including Witchblade and is still pretty buff at 47.
13. Michael Bergin
Who didn’t dream about male supermodel Michael Bergin performing mouth-to-mouth on them as lifeguard J.D. Darius on Baywatch and its short-lived sequel? Before this acting gig, he was Calvin Klein’s “spokesbody” baring his washboard abs in his underwear on a billboard in Times Square. He was also the boyfriend of Carolyn Bessette before she married John F. Kennedy Jr. Today, the 46-year-old is involved with several philanthropic causes like the children’s anti-drug campaign D.A.R.E and various AIDS charities. Seems his good heart matches his good looks.
14. Jaason Simmons
In 1994, Baywatch imported an Australian exchange student to join the lifeguard crew. Jaason Simmons (yep, that’s how he spells it) played dreamy Logan Fowler for three years, and that combination of hard body, bedroom eyes and Aussie accent was a great addition to the cast. He publicly came out in 2008, and he and his partner are the proud fathers of an adopted boy. After leaving the show, Simmon’s has only had a few acting roles, most recently in 2013’s Sharknado (which tells you something about how his career is going). He still makes nice eye candy, though.
15. Jeremy Jackson
Who could forget cute kid Jeremy Jackson, who played Mitch’s son Hobie Buchannon on the show. Rumor has it he beat out Leonardo DiCaprio for the role. Like many child stars thrust into the limelight, Jeremy struggled with drug addiction while working on Baywatch. He had an arrest and a stint in rehab, but says he’s been sober since 2000. In 2008, he was featured in a sex tape with porn star Sky Lopez, and in 2013 appeared on Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew to kick a steroid habit. Today, the 35-year-old’s career pretty much consists of making the rounds on talk and reality shows to reminisce about his Baywatch days and personal struggles.
16. Michael Newman
Michael Newman has the distinction of being the only real qualified lifeguard to appear on the show. He was a 20 year firefighter and Los Angeles County lifeguard who served as a technical consultant and essentially played himself on Baywatch. Some of his real life rescues were reenacted in episodes. He appeared during the show’s entire run, and got his own spot in the opening credits from 1996 onward. Newman became a fan favorite, popular around the world. Now 60 years old, in 2011 he announced he has battling Parkinson’s disease. We wish him well.
17. David Charvet
French singer, model and actor David Charvet got his big break stateside playing smouldering Matt Brody on Baywatch from 1992 to 1995. That fame earned him a role on Melrose Place. He’s continued to act now and then, but has primarily concentrated on his singing career, which has had modest success in the European French market. Today, at 44, he is married to former Dancing With the Stars co-host Brooke Burke-Charvet (not to be confused with Baywatch alum, Brooke Burns).
18. Jason Momoa
Hot Hawaiian hunk Jason Momoa was shoulder-tapped at 19 to play Jason Ioane on the spin-off Baywatch Hawaii from 1999–2001. Apparently he embellished his modeling resume and exaggerated his credentials to land the job. He later grew trademark dreadlocks and had roles in North Shore, Conan the Barbarian, Stargate Atlantis, Game of Thrones, and has several film projects currently in development. He is also famous for marrying actress Lisa Bonet, and siring their long-named children Lola Iolani Momoa and Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha Momoa.
19. Chris Fiore
Chris Fiore played Brad from 1992-1999. After a seven year run, he decided to quit acting altogether. Getting about as far away from the beach as possible, he started his own snow equipment business, Snowblind Snowmobile Consulting. He probably doesn’t get to show off his torso much in that line of work.
