The prime time soap opera The O.C. just got a release on Hulu, which means fans new and old might be (re)paying a visit. Look closely, and you’ll see the likes of Chris Pratt, Olivia Wilde, Amber Heard, Colin Hanks, Shailene Woodley and a few other now-famous faces make an appearance. The show made stars out of plenty of its young actors, and some of the older more established cast members got a career boost out of it, too. Here’s what the main members of The O.C. gang are up to now.
1. Rachel Bilson had a successful TV career
Rachel Bilson who played Summer Roberts on the show has been in a few projects, but she probably found her greatest success on the CW’s Hart of Dixie where she was the star. The show wrapped in 2015 after four years on air.
2. Rachel had a baby with Skywalker
Rachel Bilson is romantically involved with actor Hayden Christensen, who is most famous for playing Anakin Skywalker in the Star Wars franchise. The two became parents when Rachel gave birth to their daughter Briar. The two initially met while filming the movie Jumper in 2008, and then called off an engagement in 2010. They later reconciled and have been together ever since.
3. Adam Brody continued acting
Adam Brody played Seth Cohen on the show, and has continued acting since The O.C. wrapped. He has had roles in films like Jennifer’s Body, Scream 4, and Lovelace. More recently he has been involved in projects like CHiPs, Big Bear, and Showing Roots.
4. The OC guy married a Gossip Girl
Adam ended up marrying Leighton Meester, who starred on another extremely popular teen drama, Gossip Girl. These two are now parents to a daughter named Arlo, whom they welcomed in 2015. They are a notoriously private couple, managing to get married in secret as well as keep the birth of their daughter out of the media for two months.
5. Ben McKenzie has been on a few other hit TV shows
Ben McKenzie played Ryan Atwood on the show, and he too eventually ended up back on TV. After a few not-so-successful films, Ben landed a role on the crime drama Southland, followed by a lead role on the show Gotham.
6. Ben McKenzie fell for his co-star
Ben landed more than just a starring role on Gotham, he also got himself a girlfriend. Ben started dating his co-star Morena Baccarin, with whom he welcomed a baby girl named Frances Laiz Setta Schenkkan. It is the first child for Ben, and the second for Morena. Back in 2006, Morena played a character named Maya Griffin in three episodes of The O.C.
7. Mischa Barton went through some rocky times
Mischa Barton rose to fame playing Marissa Cooper on the show, but she followed it up with some only mild successful film and TV roles. Her personal life hit a rough patch when she was arrested in 2007 for driving under the influence and got a reputation as a party girl.
8. Mischa ended up on Dancing With the Stars
Recently Mischa did her time on Dancing With the Stars but was kicked off after only the third episode. Rumor has it that she didn’t handle the elimination too well, and that she had a bit of an attitude with the other contestants on the show.
9. Kelly Rowan hooked up with a billionaire
Kelly Rowan played Kirsten Cohen, the recovering alcoholic mother on the show. The Canadian actress has continued to have smaller parts in film and television, but nothing as noteworthy as her role in The O.C. She did, however, have a daughter with one of the world’s richest men, tycoon David Thomson, 3rd Baron of Fleet. They have since broken up.
10. Samaire Armstrong continued acting in smaller roles
Samaire Armstrong played Anna Stern on the show, and has had a handful of smaller roles here and there. She worked on Entourage, Dirty Sexy Money, The Mentalist, and Resurrection. Samaire also had a baby, a son named Calin.
11. Melinda Clarke reunited with Ben McKenzie on Gotham
Melinda Clarke, who played Julie Cooper, has continued to act and recently had a reunion with Ben McKenzie when she had a spot on Gotham. She also had a big role in the show Nikita, and was on The Vampire Diaries.
12. Peter Gallagher kept up his success
Peter Gallagher was probably one of the more established actors on the show before he landed the role of Sandy Cohen. He was probably best known for his role in Sex, Lies and Video Tape. Since then he has moved on to shows like Californication and Rescue Me.
13. Autumn Reeser kept acting and had a family
Autumn Reeser played Taylor Townsend on the show, and since has had some guest spots here and there on other TV shows. She also started a family and has two young sons named Finneus James Warren and Dashiell Ford Warren.
14. Chris Carmack kept acting as well
Chris Carmack has been pretty successful since his stint of playing Luke Ward, who said the iconic line “Welcome to the O.C., bitch!“ in the pilot episode. Most recently he has been a regular on the show Nashville, and he has also had spots on NCIS, CSI: NY, and Desperate Housewives. He is currently engaged to musician Erin Slaver.
15. Alan Dale kept up the acting flow, but he died a lot
Since playing Caleb Nichol on The O.C., Alan Dale has continued acting on shows like Lost, Ugly Betty, NCIS, and Once Upon a Time. Funny enough, some people have pointed out how many times Alan Dale’s characters have been killed off, and that they’ve kicked it in pretty much every way possible. Lucky for him, he keeps on booking.
16. Tate Donovan Had An Oscar Role
Tate Donovan, who played Jimmy Cooper, landed a role in the Oscar winning film Argo, and Limitless, as well as roles on the TV shows The Mysteries of Laura, Blame, and Elvis & Nixon. Donovan married writer Corinne Kingsbury in 2005, but unfortunately they divorced three years later.
