The X-Files is getting its second revival. Fox has announced a ten episode installment to follow the success of the first revival. The show will again be executive produced by creator Chris Carter, and both Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny will return to star.
David Madden, the president of Fox Broadcasting Co. released a statement about the decision.
“Iconic characters, rich storytelling, bold creators – these are the hallmarks of great TV shows. And they are some of the reasons why ‘The X-Files’ has had such a profound impact on millions of fans worldwide.
“Chris’ creativity, along with the brilliant work of David and Gillian, continue to propel this pop culture phenomenon, and we can’t wait to see what fresh mysteries Mulder and Scully uncover in this next chapter of ‘The X-Files.'”
Last year’s sex episode revival managed to pull in 16 million viewers. The show initially ran from 1993 through 2001 and still clearly loved to this day.
