Oprah recently spoke out about keeping a harassment free set, part of which she accomplishes by being very picky about who she works with. She talked about her hiring process at the season finale celebration of OWN’s Queen Sugar.
Oprah said that not only do they take into account talent and who is best to play the characters, but they also consider the group that they’re building by casting people together.
“So we’re looking at those things and not just looking at who’s gonna be the star and take the lead but looking at how does it all integrate so that it can evolve into something bigger.”
The mogul has been open about her own history with sexual abuse as a child, and how she managed to overcome it and become who she is today. It makes sense that she would have a zero tolerance policy for inappropriate behavior of any kind.
Oprah recently said that she is “processing the accounts of Harvey Weinstein’s hideous behavior and haven’t been able to find the words to articulate the magnitude of the situation.”
