Nicki Minaj’s brother Jelani Minaj has reportedly been charged with the raping of a twelve year-old girl in Long Island. The charges against the 37 year-old were first-degree rape and first-degree course of sexual conduct against a child, which in the New York state is defined as a legal adult having sex with a minor under the age of 12, two or more times within a three month period.
That would lead one to assume that the rapes Jelani engaged in took place multiple times. Jelani was reportedly arraigned in early December and charged, although he is currently out of the Nassau County jail on a $100,000 bail. He is due back in court on December 9.
The Nassau district attorney’s office is currently refusing to comment on the case in any regard, so it is unclear at the time what the circumstances of the situation were or how the authorities were tipped off about the illegal activity.
This certainly must be a challenge for the family, especially considering the fact that Jelani recently got married to his longtime girlfriend Jacqueline Robinson.
The wedding was held at the Coral House in Baldwin, New York, and sister Nicki reportedly paid about $30,000 for the event to take place.
Nicki posted photos of the celebratory August event to her Instagram account, one of which was captioned:
“I would cross the ocean for u. I would go & bring u the moon. Promise u. For u I will. I love my brother so much man. Can’t believe I cried during his wedding and his first dance like a punk. May God bless him and his union. Tonight has been one of my favorite nights of all time. I do anything to see my brothers smile.”
So far no one directly in the Minaj family nor their spokespeople have come forward with any comments on the disturbing news.
