Avengers director Joss Whedon got together some of his famous friends to star in a super PAC video that is pro Hillary and anti Donald Trump. The video was created as a spoof of the videos that encourage voting in general, and is the first of 15 to 25 that will air before the presidential election in November.
The video does not shy around Joss’ opinions about the upcoming election, and at one point Don Cheadle straight up refers to Donald Trump “a racist, abusive coward who could permanently damage the fabric of our society.” Other stars in the video include Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr., and Neil Patrick Harris.
The video is funny, but packs a powerful message and has the intention of spreading real information about the presidential race. Joss donated his own $1 million contribution to create the video, and is actually taking some time off of screenwriting to totally focus on Save the Day before it’s too late to make a difference in the presidential outcome.
Joss spoke to the Hollywood Reporter about the project.
“It’s not about attacking because Donny’s real good at attacking himself. It’s about getting people to vote, because it’s frightening the apathy that people are treating the most crucial election of their lifetimes with.”
