Jared Leto has shared some strong words about Taylor Swift, but now it seems like he’s changing his tune a bit. A video was released of the actor/musician critiquing Taylor’s album 1989 which let’s just say didn’t sound like he was a fan.
When considering whether Taylor’s musical sound was a good match for his band Thirty Seconds to Mars, he said:
“I don’t give a f*ck about her. It’s whatever works best for us.”
The video was reportedly filmed a couple months ago when Jared and his bandmates were in the studio looking for some new inspiration for music, which is why they were listening to Taylor’s album to begin with.
Naturally Taylor’s fans found his response a little harsh and reacted accordingly, even though the dig seemed aimed at her sound, not at her.
Jared took to Twitter to set things straight, saying:
“The truth is I think @taylorswift13 is amazing + an incredible example of what’s possible. If I hurt her or her fans my sincerest apologies.”
Sounds pretty reasonable, and don’t we all put our foot in our mouth from time to time?
Like her or not, Taylor Swift is one of the most successful artists of the year. Until Adele’s new album came along, Taylor’s 1989 was leading the charts, and she is near the top of the pack for this year’s Grammy nominations in seven different categories. So far since 2010 Taylor has won seven of the 19 Grammy nominations she’s been chosen for, and let’s be honest, she’s probably just getting started.
Do you think Jared needed to apologize? Or is Taylor doing just fine, with or without his endorsement? Let us know in the comments below.
