Drake is now officially as popular as Michael Jackson was during the Thriller era, since the two men are the only two artists to ever hold the number one song and album for seven consecutive weeks.

Drake’s Views album has been in the number one spot for nine weeks, and “One Dance” has been in the number one spot for seven straight weeks. The song has been in the number one spot for eight nonconsecutive weeks, since at one point Justin Timberlake’s “Can’t Stop the Feeling!” beat him at the top.

The last time anyone has dominated the charts in such a manner was when Michael Jackson had Thriller and “Billie Jean” in the number one spots for seven consecutive weeks, which was all the way back in 1983. The last time anyone came close was when Whitney Houston had a number one spot for twelve weeks on the charts between 1992 and 1993, which is a record that she still holds as a tie with The Beatles.

Interestingly, Drake has not yet released the video to “One Dance” which means the song will probably stay popular for quite some time. He is reportedly releasing that video soon, as teased on his Instagram account this week.
