Chris Evans celebrated his 37th birthday yesterday, and many of his colleagues tweeted their best wishes for the year ahead. Messages from Chadwick Boseman, Edgar Wright, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson flooded Evans’ Twitter feed. However, one message stood out to Captain America actor.
Would an exclamation point have killed you? Any number of emojis would have sufficed. The only thing missing from this tweet is a period. You better step it up next year, Spencer. https://t.co/4ogCDQt2qE

Of course, Evans’ tweet back to Octavia Spencer was meant entirely in jest. The two reportedly became fast friends on the set of the 2017 independent feature Gifted. In an interview last year, Spencer said, “It’s not Chris Evans in the movie. It’s a departure from anything we’ve seen him do, which I love.”
This morning, Spencer responded to Evans’ tweet, and of course, he replied to her message.
I suppose I’ll let it slide. 37 has made me very magnanimous ? https://t.co/pin8q34hYj

The adorable back-and-forth reveals a Hollywood friendship that deserves way more attention. While Evans is often associated with his role as Steve Rogers/Captain America, the actor has developed a social circle outside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe bromance that includes Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Anthony Mackie, and Sebastian Stan.
Evans’ next cinematic release is the follow-up to this year’s Avengers: Infinity War, which will hit theaters next spring. The fourth Avengers movie is supposedly the last one in which Evans will appear as Captain America. This spring, Evan starred alongside Michael Cera in the Broadway production of Lobby Hero.
Spencer’s current projects include movies Instant Family and The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle, as well as a TV series titled, Are You Sleeping. Unfortunately, Evans and Spencer are not slated to work on any upcoming movies or TV shows, but hopefully, that won’t always be the case.
