China has now banned Winnie the Pooh from appearing on social media after memes were released comparing Pooh to President Xi Jinping.
People have been making the comparison since 2013, when they started comparing Xi walking next to Obama and Pooh walking next to Tigger.
Another meme of Pooh shaking hands with Eeyore has been placed to a photo of Xi greeting Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
Now searches for “Little Bear Winnie” (as Pooh is called in China) bring up error messages of “this content is illegal” on a social media site called Weibo.
Pooh stickers have also been deleted from WeChat’s official “sticker gallery.”
