Cardi B surprised fans this week when she revealed that she and Offset are actually already married. The two officially tied the knot in September of 2017. The couple is currently expecting their first child together, and Cardi B explained that they decided to wed because they “didn’t want to lose each other.”

She shared the news on Twitter with a long note.

She explained that they just had a small cermony with her cousin as the witness.

“We found someone to marry us, and she did, just the two of us and my cousin. I said I do, with no dress no make up and no ring! I appreciate and love my husband so much for still wanting for me [to] have that special moment that every girl dreams of when he got down on his knee and put a ring on my finger and he did that for me!!”

Some speculation about the marriage broke out after the BET Awards, when Offset said on stage “Thank God, I thank my wife, you should thank yours.”

The rapper proposed to Cardi B on stage at a concert in October, but according to their marriage certificate, they were actually married a month prior to that. Despite the fact that the two are already technically married, they are planning a full-fledged wedding to celebrate at a later date.

“It’s gonna be extravagant. You know, we’re both rappers. We’re both artists, so it has to be a very extravagant wedding.”

Cardi B has been dicussing her plans for life with the daughter she’s expecting. She shared that she’s had to deal with a lot of people telling her that by having the kid she might “f— up [her] career,” but that she thinks she can handle it all.

“What I envision is my tour bus has my own personal room, and I just want to be with my baby. Only time I don’t have my baby with me is when I’m getting my hair done, makeup done, performing. I don’t want to miss one second. I don’t want to miss no smiles, I don’t want to miss no new movement, I don’t want the baby to confuse me and the babysitter.”
