Celebrities are frequently bombarded by fans who just want to be near their favorite stars, often asking for a picture or an autograph. Many Hollywood A-listers oblige to fans’ requests, but there are celebrities who refuse to sign autographs and have been named to Autograph Collectors Magazine‘s “worst celebrity signers” list for several years in a row. 1. Will Ferrell

The Get Hard actor stopped signing autographs after he learned that fans were re-selling signed memorabilia on eBay. Ferrell has been named among Autograph Collectors Magazine‘s “worst celebrity signers” for several years in a row. The comedian later spoofed the title on Conan explaining that it was impossible for him to sign autographs, while holding up an artificial hook hand appendage.

2. John C. Reilly

The hilarious Tale of Tales actor doesn’t have such a great sense of humor when it comes to interacting with his fans. Reilly explained to Autograph Collectors Magazine why he doesn’t sign, saying, “It’s a free country, and I can do what I choose. I choose not to sign.” However, he’s been known to lend his characters’ signatures, but fans aren’t usually pleased with that.

3. William Shatner

The original Star Trek captain refuses to sign any piece of memorabilia for fans as he feels they will re-sell his autograph for a profit. Shatner will however sign one of his books, but insists that he must see every person who wants his signature.

4. Tobey Maguire

Although he plays Spiderman on the big screen, it doesn’t mean that Maguire is actually the friendly neighborhood hero in real life. The 39-year-old actor is consistently listed as one of the “worst celebrity signers” by Autograph Collectors Magazine. He even refuses to sign for children!

5. Joaquin Phoenix

The 40-year-old Inherent Vice actor has often been labelled as one of Hollywood’s “most unapproachable” actors, so it’s no surprise that Phoenix hates signing merchandise for fans. The Gladiator star has shown up on Autograph Collectors Magazine‘s “worst celebrity signers” list multiple times.

6. Russell Crowe

The Water Diviner actor was a notoriously bad autographer when he first started out in Hollywood, but then in 2006 he turned things around and landed one of the top 10 spots on Autograph Collectors Magazine‘s list of the “best celebrity signers.” However, he slipped in 2013 and was once again noted as one of the celebrities who refuse to sign autographs.

7. Cameron Diaz

Autograph Collectors Magazine has dubbed the Sex Tape actress as one of the worst signers in Hollywood. In an interview, 42-year-old Diaz explained that if she steps aside to lend her signature to one fan a crowd will form and she’ll have to do it for everyone, something she finds too time consuming. Star magazine even reported that Cameron berated a fan after being asked for an autograph at the Sex Tape premiere.

8. Bruce Willis

The Sin City actor has no problem signing autographs on the red carpet, but refuses to do so at any other venue. Willis has been known to avoid eye contact with fans completely so that he doesn’t have to scribe his signature.
