“I’m going to make him an offer he can’t refuse.” Brando portrayed powerful mafia boss, Vito Corleone in the legendary film. The line was said when Corleone’s godson, singer Johnny Fontane, came to him and begged for his help to get a role in a film. The line is not meant to sound as benevolent as it does- the “offer” being “do as I say or I’ll kill you.” The studio head eventually gives Fontane the part after he discovers the severed head of his expensive racehorse in his bed.
