7. Honoring the First Responders
At one point during the One America Appeal Concert, the orchestrators took a moment to honor those people who charge into the fray without thought for themselves. About 200 first responders were mentioned at the concert, praised for their bravery, and given a righteous standing ovation by the crowd of thousands. Said honoree Phyllis Wiggins, “It really makes my heart feel good. It really makes me feel like I’m contributing still to society.”
