3. James Franco and Anne Hathaway
In 2011, someone had the bright idea of pairing two non-comedians to host the Academy Awards. While that’s never a good idea, the two performers — oddball James Franco and girl scout Anne Hathaway — couldn’t have been more opposites. According to sources at the scene, these two bickered throughout the event. The friction between the two stars factored into their awards night performance, which Roger Ebert called, “painfully dull, slow, witless, and hosted by the ill-matched James Franco and Anne Hathaway.”
