The feud between Bette Davis and Joan Crawford is — hands down — the Grand Poobah of all Hollywood feuds. These two film icons hated each other with a furious passion. At one point, Davis said of Crawford, “She slept with every male star at MGM, except Lassie.” Their fight came to a head in the 1962 film Whatever Happened To Baby Jane?, a shoot that was reportedly filled with passive aggressive bickering between the two leads. At one point, for a scene in which Davis has to drag Crawford out of bed (the movie is nuts, but it’s also great, you should check it out), Crawford reportedly put rocks in her pockets to make the scene more difficult for her costar. Those are just the little things these two actresses did to each other in the decades long quest to ruin the other’s life.
