Trump, Sarah Palin Defend Track Palin’s Domestic Violence Arrest

On Monday, 26-year-old Track Palin, son of famed neocon Sarah Palin, was arrested on charges of domestic violence. According to reports from the scene, Track Palin allegedly punched his girlfriend in the face and then threatened to off himself with an assault rifle. The following day, Tuesday, Track was charged by Wasilla, Alaska authorities with “assault, interfering with the report of a domestic violence crime and possessing a weapon while intoxicated.”

And, here’s where the fun starts.

A little while after Track was picked up, Sarah Palin went ahead and publicly endorsed Donald Trump for President. The very next day, while speaking at a pro-Trump rally, Palin addressed her son’s arrest. Here’s what she actually said, but it translates roughly to: “My kid punched his girlfriend because he has PTSD. He has PTSD because soldiers come back wondering whether their sacrifice is even recognized by the general populace. These soldiers are left with these feelings of uncertainty because President Obama doesn’t respect them enough.”

So … Track punched his lady because Obama.

Let’s not mention that in 2011, family acquaintance Mercede Johnston (who, in the interest of full disclosure, now hates the Palins with a fiery passion) told Playboy that Track only entered the military after his mother forced him into it in the hopes of concealing her son’s drug problem from voters.

Let’s also skip over the fact that Palin’s comments were immediately discounted by people who had, you know, actually seen combat. The head of veteran’s organization Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA), Paul Rieckhoff said, “It’s not President Obama’s fault that Sarah Palin’s son has PTSD. PTSD is a very serious problem, a complicated mental health injury and I would be extremely reluctant to blame any one person in particular.”

Nope, let’s focus on this morning’s revelation that Donald Trump not only supported Palin’s claim that “… because Obama,” he’s actually trying to take credit for it. When reporters asked Trump what he thought about using the Trump rally as her platform, he said, “I actually suggested it … I said, ‘I think it would be a great forum,’ and I know she started the dialogue. I think it’s a very important dialogue.” He went on to add that he felt her inclusion of the president as the primary culprit for her son’s PTSD was merited.
