Amy Schumer Shuts Down Critics Over Barbie Backlash

It’s been announced that Amy Schumer is in the running to play Barbie in the upcoming film, and now she is responding to critics suggesting that she doesn’t have the right body type to do it.

She posted a photo to her Instagram account where she explained where things stand from her perspective.

“Very very honored to be nominated for 2 Grammys and to be considered to play an important and evolving icon. Is it fat shaming if you know you’re not fat and have zero shame in your game? I don’t think so. I am strong and proud of how I live my life and say what I mean and fight for what I believe in and I have a blast doing it with the people I love. Where’s the shame? It’s not there. It’s an illusion.”

The live-action Barbie film will be about Barbie trying to survive in the real world after she gets kicked out of Barbieland. The film is set to be released sometime in 2018.
